The Declaration of Faith
La ilaha ill-Allah, Muhammad-ur-rasool-lullah
Many of you probably know the Declaration of Faith, but you may not know its
importance and meaning as a Muslim. The meaning is: "There is no deity but
Allah and Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah." Which means, you accept Allah as
the one and only god, and that you accept the Prophet(pbuh) as the messenger
of Allah. By saying the Declaration of Faith, you are declaring yourself as a
Muslim. People who are converting to Islam also have to recite this, and it
marks them being reborn, but as Muslim. However, saying the Declaration of
Faith does not mean a Muslim will go right away to heaven, he/she will still
be accountable for his/her sins. We all should not forget this important oath
and should always recite this. We should teach it to other Muslims who may not
know it's meaning or significance.
Hadiths of the Week
These hadiths are about Excellence for providing for the breaking of Siyam:
Zaid ibn Khalid Juhni related that Rasulullah(pbuh) said:
He who provides for the breaking of the Siyam of another person earns the same
merit as the one who was observing Siyam without diminishing in any way the
reward of the latter.(Tirmidhi)
These hadiths are about Lailat al-Qadr:
Anas ibn Malik related taht Rasulullah(pbuh) said:
When Lailat al-Qadr comes Gabriel descends with a company of angels who ask
for blessings on everyone who is remembering Allah, whether they are sitting
or standing.(Baihaqi)
Aishah related that Rasulullah(pbuh) said:
Look for Lailat al-Qadr on an odd-numbered night during the last ten nights of
Ramadan.(Bukhari)
Umrah
Abu Hurairah related that Rasulullah(pbuh) said: Umrah followed by another
Umrah atones for that which is between the two, and the only reward for
the Hajj (that may be accepted by Allah) is Paradise. (Bukhari, Muslim)
Ibn Abbas related that Rasulullah(pbuh) said: An Umrah performed in
Ramadan is equal to a Hajj. (Bukhari)
Message of the Week
This week's message is about character. Character is a real important thing
in Islam, since it portrays what type of person you are and it influences the
people around you. Many Muslims stray of the right path since they hang
around the wrong crowd. If a Muslims keeps a good character with good morals,
he/she will not only help themselves, but correct the people around them. The
Prophet's(pbuh) character influence the people around him and theyfollowed his
character and became good Muslims. This is still true today, how you act will
determine your character and the people you associate with. To preserve our
religion and the correct teachings of Islam, we must incorporate a good
character within ourselves so that we may impact the people around us for
their own good.
Umrah
Message is about Umrah. I've been to Umrah, but not Hajj yet; but I can say that
Umrah was a really awesome trip. Not only was it Islamic and educational, it was
also fun. Just to see things such as the Prophet's birth place, the different sites
where wars were fought, and the Kaaba upclose is incredible. People that have
been to Hajj have told me about how crowded it was and how they didn't get to
see all the things which they wanted to see, so Umrah would be good for seeing
all the sites. Umrah also gives you an idea of what Hajj is like, except without the
millions and millions of people.
